Disappointed!
I saw the matinee and, of course, Kelly Jeanne Grant had a substitute. Her lower range was beautiful but she screeched as if she had to hurry up and get to some appointment. There was no connection between her and Bobby Lee or even Raoul. I don't mean to be critical of someone who was chosen by the company to be the understudy, but she played the part as if she were Carlotta! Yikes! I even saw her wipe her lips after she was done kissing Raoul. My family and I left at the intermission. So disappointed as I had looked forward to it since I heard it was coming to Phoenix. I have seen as many phantom shows as I can and this just was a mess.
